I wrote a song!
I’ll start by saying that while I’ve been playing guitar for quite a while I’ve always had a block around actual songwriting- particularly with respect to lyrics. But I’m incredibly pleased to tell you that I finished Shakellia’s book this morning full of inspiration and within an hour I’d produced an actual SONG (with lyrics!!) that I’d feel really good about recording as a demo! I can’t tell you how strange it feels to type those words!
If you know me at all then you know that that is HUGE. I’ve been feeling a lot of guilt around what I saw as lack of songwriting talent for many years. But I think the fact that I finally DID something is a testament to the encouraging nature of Shakellia’s voice and the effectiveness of her tools. I have no doubt that the mindfulness exercises included here not only facilitated my creativity but also mitigated my feelings of guilt- and then it was like someone flipped a switch!
And my last point is that this book is incredibly comprehensive overall. Shakellia discusses mindset and songwriting at length but also covers everything from song structure to copyright to music careers to recording equipment. If you’re still reading and are at all interested in pursuing a career in songwriting then I highly recommend stopping everything you’re doing and read this book!

Must Read!
This book is an excellent read. It is so easy to follow and is explainedin a way that anyone can comprehend the tools, from an experience songwriter to a beginner. The book not only gives you tools on how to write a song and what to do once you've written the song, it also shows you how to proceed even when it seems like oddsare against you. Kay L'Amour has sculpted this book in a way that it not only helps with songwriting, it helps with everyday life. There is so much inspiration and guidance that fills this book that it makes you feel like dropping everything right now andgetting started on doing what you love. The book gives us the history behind how she managed to get through adversity to achieve greatness. She has given us this literary jewel to study, enjoy, and appreciate where we came from, where we are, and where wecould be. I recommend this book to everyone because although the basis is about songwriting, the tools, journeys, and paths explored can be utilized for any walk of life, to make you a better person. Thank you so much Kay L'Amour!!!

Very helpful book
I found this book to be helpful and instructional in how to achieve daily happiness and self-satisfaction. Shakellia opens the book detailing her personal story and journey and I found it relatable and inspiring. To anyone with dreams of becoming a songwriter or aspiring to any career this book will help set you on that path.

This book is a cheerleader!
This book is an inspiration to the creative process in general. A lot of us have creative energy within us that we let go untapped. Your Path to Songwriting Success is more than a how-to guide for how to write songs. It’s a cheerleader. I’ve been struggling to finish a non-fiction book for several years and this book was just the encouragement I needed!

This book was absolutely amazing! A step-by-step guide to help you become the most confident songwriter possible. What I enjoyed most is the advice given that can be used even if you're not a songwriter... these are techniques I will be applying to my own life. Job well done Kay L'Amour, job well done!

I loved everything about this book.
It was a truly insightful look into the music industry. I learned so much about the simplicity and intricacies of songwriting.
The step-by-step approach is great for all skill levels from beginner to experienced. It can be used for writing in general. I plan to incorporate some of the advice into my own writing. But most of all, I found this to be instructions for life. It inspired me onto a self-help journey with step-by-step instructions on how to live your best life. Yes! All the steps could be expanded to many areas of life.
